What is quality improvement and how can you participate in a culture of continuous QI in your practice?

Quality improvement (QI) in health care has been around for centuries, and more recently, has been a focus of practice transformation.  This module focuses on effective quality improvement models for processes of patient care and provides quality improvement tools that can be implemented in the office setting.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe quality improvement tools, such as Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycles and process mapping.
  • Participate actively in practice improvement meetings and use of PDSA cycles.
  • Describe the role of practice staff in quality improvement in primary care practices.

Who should complete this module?

Healthcare practice staff, including nurses, medical assistants, health coaches, registered dietitians, front and back office staff, and patient navigators.
